We all know that Texas is the place where so many extreme policies are tested before folks take them nationwide, and the state’s near-total abortion ban – and the Texas Supreme Court’s enforcement of it – is no different.
Just last month, the Texas Supreme Court told a pregnant Dallas mother of two that she wasn’t close enough to death or infertility to qualify for the state’s medical exception. Really? Because her DOCTOR thought she was.
This November, three extremist justices on the TX Supreme Court – Jimmy Blacklock, John Devine, and Jane Bland – are up for reelection. We have a chance – I’d say responsibility – to send a message to them, to every other extremist judge out there, and to the rest of the country that messing around with our reproductive freedoms will cost you dearly.
