We know this past week hasn't been easy. But it was a critical week — a week that's defining our future.

While the number of cases continued to grow, Mayor Cantrell took swift action to seek help ― not only your help with social distancing and staying home, but help from the federal government.

Under her leadership, and with the help of so many around our city, the federal government made New Orleans part of a pilot program offering drive-thru testing for people that meet the criteria for testing and are most at-risk.

The program originally tested our first responders and healthcare facility workers and quickly became expanded to the general public. Now, upwards of 250 tests are being distributed per day, per site — meaning hundreds of at-risk people are getting fast, free healthcare every day.

If you are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms and would like to get tested, the following drive-thru locations are open from 8am to 6pm. More details at www.ready.nola.gov: ([link removed])

We appreciate all of you who are doing your part to #FlattenTheCurve and change the storyline across the nation. With your help, we can continue to stop the spread. Keeping your distance from others may be hard, but it's a small price to pay for the health of our beloved home. New Orleanians have endured before, and we'll endure again. If this past week has proven anything, it's this — New Orleans, we are built to last.
