It was a busy week, but I’m back to keep you in the loop on how I am fighting for our conservative values.
Congresswoman Ilhan Omar has a history of bashing Israel, espousing antisemitism and criticizing the United States. She may have a right to her own opinions—deplorable as they are—but she still has an obligation to put the Constitution and her constituents first. She violated her sworn duties when she spoke about putting the interests of Somalia, her native homeland, before the interests of her constituents and the United States of America. That’s why I am supporting Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene’s privileged resolution to censure Omar and strip her of her committee assignments.
I joined Minnesota House Republicans, led by Whip Tom Emmer, in a letter to Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas demanding answers on the recent capture of an Al-Shabaab terrorist in Minnesota. The suspect was apprehended at the southern border about a year ago, then illogically released into the United States. We demand to know why the terrorist, who was correctly assessed by the Terrorist Screening Center, was released and how the Department of Homeland Security plans to prevent similar incidents.
This instance is just another outrageous byproduct of Biden’s border crisis, where terrorists feel empowered to take advantage of our open borders, in the north as well as in the south. House Republicans have made it a priority to secure the border and finish the wall. We will continue to press the Biden administration to enforce immigration laws already on the books.
Before we wrap up, I want to thank Bill Homan, a 97-year-old World War II veteran who served as a B-17 mechanic, for his tireless advocacy in the opening of a veterans' nursing facility in his hometown of Montevideo. It’s only fitting that Bill became the facility’s very first resident! Thank you, Bill, for your service and sacrifice. You are truly one of western Minnesota’s finest.
