Citizens for Ethics & Responsibility in Washington

CREW's been making national and international news for successfully barring Donald Trump from the ballot in Colorado, and now we’re going to the U.S. Supreme Court to defend our win next week.

As you can probably tell by now, when CREW talks about accountability for those who threaten our democracy, we mean it. And we’ve been taking action on accountability for the insurrection for years now.

Here’s what else we’ve done—beyond our 14th Amendment lawsuit against Donald Trump.

  • We tracked every donation to the Sedition Caucus (the members who voted to overturn the results of the 2020 election), and called corporations out for breaking their promises – turns out corporations who said they *wouldn’t* donate to these members actually have now donated at least $98 million to them.
  • We forced the Secret Service to turn over records of its communications with the Oath Keepers ahead of January 6th.
  • We demanded that the Department of Justice investigate the gap in the White House call logs from January 6th. We made the legal and historical case for barring Trump from the ballot in reports that laid the groundwork for our 14th Amendment lawsuit.
  • We enforced County Commissioner Couy Griffin’s disqualification from office for his connection with the insurrection—which set a crucial precedent for the historic Trump decision in Colorado in December
John, this is a long list, but our work is far from over. In fact, our biggest fight yet is coming up on the 8th, when we go to the Supreme Court to take on Donald Trump, and defend his disqualification from the ballot under the 14th Amendment.

We’ve come so far in this fight, but there is still so much work to do. Can you help us continue the fight by making a donation to CREW today? →

Let me put this bluntly—our democracy needs us to stand up for it before Trump can do irreversible harm.

In the aftermath of January 6th, CREW was one of the first organizations to call for Donald Trump’s impeachment and for his enablers to be expelled from Congress. We launched an investigation into the Trump administration’s delayed response to the armed insurrection. We filed a criminal sedition complaint against Trump.

Since then, we have seen some real victories on accountability for the insurrection. The January 6th Select Committee showed the American people the full story of that day. The Department of Justice charged Donald Trump with crimes related to his efforts to overturn the 2020 election. Three states have now criminally charged Trump's fake electors. Thousands of insurrectionists have been arrested, convicted and sentenced for attacking the Capitol. John, we won our lawsuit to bar Trump from the ballot in Colorado.

That’s a lot of progress, but we can’t stop now. Not when we’re about to take on our most consequential fight yet.

John, we’ve made so much progress, but there’s so much more to do. We have to keep up the fight to ensure an insurrection like January 6th never happens again. And we need resources to defend our crucial win at the next level.

We need resources to defend our crucial win at the next level – the Supreme Court. Can you make a donation to help CREW defend our lawsuit victory and continue the fight for accountability? →
