Friend —

Earlier this week, a federal judge overturned California's law requiring people to pass a background check to buy ammunition.

[A federal judge has ruled California residents don't have to pay for and pass a background check every time they buy bullets.]

Now let me be clear: guns — with bullets — are the number one killer of kids in America.

And the main reason California's firearm death rate is so much lower than states like Florida and Texas is because we have strong gun laws.

But time after time federal judges put those laws at risk.

This is the same judge, Judge Benitez, who overturned our three-decade-old assault weapons ban, comparing military-style weapons to Swiss Army knives.

It's absurd.

But the truth is, it once again highlights why we need a constitutional amendment to make our communities safer from gun violence in this country.

Because if Congress won't act, and if right-wing fanatical judges overturn strong gun laws, then we need to amend the Constitution.

☀️ Wait wait wait! Don't go just yet. 🔥

Far-right Republicans and the NRA will attack us and do whatever they can to stop our progress in the fight to amend the Constitution on guns.

But the good news is that the people are on our side, the facts are on our side, and if we stick together we are going to get this done and save lives. It may not happen soon, but you have to believe it will happen.

Gavin Newsom’s pledge to you is every donation made today will go right toward our fight to pass a Constitutional amendment on guns. If that sounds worth it to you, please contribute $20 today.
