When taxpayers call federal agencies like the VA or Social Security, they shouldn't be left on hold for endless amounts of time praying someone picks up

SOLUTIONS TO OUR HOMELESS CRISIS

After spending billions of taxpayer dollars on well-intentioned federal homeless programs, it’s clear our current approach is simply not working. Huge percentages of our homeless population are falling through the cracks of our homeless programs because they are not getting the treatment they need for their mental health or drug abuse challenges. This week, I introduced the Treatment and Homelessness Housing Integration Act, H.R. 7186, which aims to address this problem by synchronizing existing federally funded housing programs together with existing federally funded behavioral health services.

BIPARTISAN TAX RELIEF

Image

Earlier this week I voted for the bipartisan Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act, which includes pro-growth tax policies that will help families and small businesses.

The Child Tax Credit builds on the success of the tax law passed by Congress in 2017 by indexing the credit to inflation and ending the penalty on large and growing families, providing help to those hurting because of skyrocketing prices rising over 17 percent since Joe Biden became president.

This legislation also helps small businesses, families, and workers by raising the immediate expensing cap for small businesses, cutting red tape for job creators, giving tax relief to families hit by disasters, and saving taxpayers $75 billion by ending a COVID-era program that has been plagued by runaway spending and rampant fraud.

RESTORING LAW AND ORDER

Most immigrants come to America for looking for a better life. Those who enter our country illegally and then commit additional crimes should not remain in our country. This week I voted along with a bipartisan majority of the House to pass news laws that pave the way for the removal of illegal immigrants who are convicted of Social Security fraud or committing DUI offenses.

I also voted to pass the Agent Raul Gonzalez Officer Safety Act, to impose new federal offenses on illegal immigrants and smugglers who engage in high-speed car chases with Border Patrol agents or local law enforcement assisting them. I will always stand up for those who put themselves in danger to protect us.

HERE TO SERVE YOU

41st Congressional District constituent and Winchester resident William contacted my office for assistance with the legal immigration process involving his wife’s mother. Nearly four years ago she was scheduled for an interview at a U.S. Embassy overseas when the pandemic forced its closure. Years later, she was still waiting for a rescheduled appointment when William called my office. My staff was able to arrange an appointment and help William and his family reunite.
