WorkMaintaining Customer Loyalty in the Face of Inflation - Harvard Business Review (No paywall) In times of inflation and economic uncertainty, customer expectations of brands increase. Brands that acknowledge inflation’s effects on business show vulnerability, which, when perceived as genuine, can build customer loyalty. Conversely, brands that fail to be transparent, will lose trust. The author recommends five strategies for companies to maintain consumer trust during these periods: 1) If you have to increase pricing, tell customers why, 2) practice value-oriented marketing, 3) offer customer-centric pricing strategies, 4) enhance your customer support and communication, and 5) prioritize long-term relationships. Satellite images analysed by the United Nations Satellite Centre show that 30% of Gaza Strip’s buildings have been destroyed or damaged. Unicef estimated on Friday that 170,000 children in Gaza were unaccompanied or had been separated from their families.
WorkWorkBiden Finds Support but Also Protests in Michigan “If we can demonstrate our political power and discontent through as many uncommitted votes as possible in the Michigan Democratic primaries, then the hope is that Biden would feel more at risk of losing Michigan in the general election,” said Layla Elabed, the campaign manager for the effort, who is a sister of Representative Rashida Tlaib of Michigan. She hopes that would prompt him to “shift his policy to support a cease-fire, at least” and to urge restrictions on military aid to Israel.

WorkWorkA Fossilized Tree That Dr. Seuss Might Have Dreamed Up The tree was unearthed near Valley Waters, New Brunswick, in an active private quarry within Canada’s Stonehammer UNESCO Global Geopark. (A new fossil museum will open in the village later this year.) The area is part of the 350-million-year-old Albert Formation, a geological layer that has also yielded fossilized fish and trace fossils. Although partial fossils of the same tree species had previously been found, the new discovery represents the only such fossil whose trunk and crown were preserved together.

Work WorkWorkOpinion | Attacking Iran’s Proxies Won’t Do the Job Freeing the hostages will not end the violence for good. It will not grant the Palestinians the path to statehood they deserve, or freedom from being governed by a terrorist group. It will not hold Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel and his government accountable for their actions, before and since Oct. 7. It will not fully address the Israelis’ deep concern over their national security. WorkOpinion | The Democratic Party Is Having an ‘Identity Crisis’ The cliché used to be that Democrats fell in love and Republicans fell in line. The reality, in recent years, has been that Democrats fall in line and Republicans fall apart. The Democratic Party’s establishment has held, even as the Republican Party’s establishment has buckled.
