Dear john,

Thursday marked the beginning of Black History Month, a time to honor the powerful voices and stories that have shaped American and global history. This month and always, let us honor and celebrate those contributions together!

This week, I joined with a bipartisan group of colleagues in introduction of the Victims' VOICES Act. The devastation and hardship in the aftermath of a crime can have ripple effects across a victim's entire support network. This legislation will ensure that a parent, guardian, or court appointed individual is guaranteed eligibility for restitution if they must assume the rights of the victims they are supporting. I am proud to champion this important legislation with my colleagues. For more information, click here.

Wednesday marked 84 years since the first Social Security check was issued to a citizen, the start of a federal program allowing Americans to continue receiving income after retirement and supporting our seniors. Just recently, the New York Times featured the success story of Kree Flowers, a Norcross resident who enlisted my help when she faced a difficulty with the Social Security Administration that would have cost her over $17,000. I was proud to help Mrs. Flowers get the help she deserves, and my team and I are committed to assisting Americans access the benefits they have earned over the course of their lives.
