This bill will protect anti LGBTQ extremists

Please email the Judiciary Committee and urge them to oppose LB 1267, a bill introduced by Senator Danielle Conrad that will protect extremists who hide behind "advocacy" to defame and falsely accuse LGBTQ parents and educators of sexually abusing their children and students.

Let these senators below know that this will give extremists a blank check to attack and defame individuals and business owners based on their views.

We initially did not testify in opposition to this bill despite our concerns (and conveyed them to the senator) because we respect Senator Conrad's previous advocacy and positions.

However, Senator Conrad specifically referenced our legal advocacy on behalf of LGBTQ Nebraskans in her introduction of the legislation today as a reason why she introduced the bill. You can view her testimony at 1:36 here ([link removed]) and referenced our legal efforts and advocacy to protect LGBTQ Nebraskans from right wing extremists.

While this type of legislation made sense years ago, now far right activists hide behind the veil of "advocacy" for anti LGBTQ legislation to defame individuals without impunity, and this legislation will allow them to do so and shift the financial liability to those trying to protect their families and children.
