John,
My opponent in the race to represent TX-32 has repeatedly disparaged my service, intelligence, and dedication to this community. As a Black man, I’ve always risen above such attempts to diminish my worth over my decades of service. So once again, I took the high road and focused on why I’m running and how it contrasts with her voting record.
But her most recent attack has gone too far. She's trying to deceive voters and has called pointing out her votes, "Trump-style attacks." As your Congressman, I will never lie to you or misrepresent facts for my convenience — excellence, integrity, and service before self are the pillars of my Air Force training I carry with me.
And the facts here are undeniable: My primary opponent's record speaks for itself. But since she continues to deny, deflect, and deceive, let’s talk about the facts my team laid out in a recent email.
HB 3231, HB 2286, HB 1791, HB 1500, HB 4346, and HB 1069: The six votes where Julie Johnson sided with the NRA to weaken gun laws. These bills banned local communities from setting their own ordinances around the sale or transfer of guns or ammunition, repealed restrictions on silencers, and designated gun shops as essential businesses during state emergencies.
With just over four weeks until the primary, this will not be the last time I’ll have to defend my experience and qualifications as a candidate for Congress. But we will continue the fight because my campaign is fueled by purpose, our movement is strong, and we have the momentum to win the primary on March 5.
Your endorsement is the key to winning this race. With our primary on March 5, I need your support now more than ever to surge ahead of my opponents. Will you make a donation of $5 right away?
