Breonna Alexsondria Moffett, 23, of Savannah, GA. | Rep. Loudermilk to Examine Vital January 6th Witness Testimonies From White House | Washington, D.C. (January, 30, 2024) | Rep. Barry Loudermilk (GA-11), Chairman of the House Administration Committee's Oversight Subcommittee, released a statement following the White House's offer to share unredacted transcripts from key White House officials who testified in the former January 6 Select Committee's probe. “While the White House granting access to these transcripts is a step in the right direction, I maintain these are House records and they should be returned in full,” said Rep. Loudermilk. "Chairman Bennie Thompson claims total transparency, yet no current Republican Member of Congress has ever seen these transcripts or their contents. I agree that operational details and security information must be highly protected. However, the American people have a right to know the full truth, not just facts the Select Committee apparently cherry-picked and published online. I look forward to reviewing these transcripts to better understand why the Select Committee sought testimony from these individuals and why they attempted to hide them from House Republicans and our Subcommittee.” BACKGROUND On January 18, 2024, Rep. Loudermilk wrote letters to White House Counsel Richard A. Sauber and Department of Homeland Security General Counsel Jonathan Meyer requesting unedited and unredacted transcripts from White House and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials who testified before the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol. Based on records the Oversight Subcommittee has obtained, we know that numerous Secret Service employees were interviewed who were either with former President Trump or in close proximity to him on Jan. 6, 2021. It is extremely concerning that House Democrats did not properly archive these transcripts as required by House rules, but instead hid them from House Republicans by sending them to the White House and DHS. DHS has yet to not respond to our requests. | Rep. The White House offered access to the House GOP under conditions that would maintain the anonymity of the witnesses and protect certain security details. “While the White House granting access to these transcripts is a step in the right direction, I maintain these are House records and they should be returned in full,” Loudermilk said in a statement. “I agree that operational details and security information must be highly protected. "The American people deserve real accountability from the SEC regarding their internal cybersecurity practices," said Rep. Barry Loudermilk, R-Ga. "This is an unacceptable failure and Congress needs answers. If Chairman Gensler cannot secure his agency’s Twitter account, how can we trust the SEC to protect investors’ personal identifiable information?" Loudermilk introduced companion legislation in the House that he said would help prevent either an accidental or intentional breach by restricting the SEC’s ability to collect data in the first place.
