It's Time for Mayorkas To Be Impeached

By continually refusing to enforce the law and utilize effective policies at our border — like Remain in Mexico — Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has damaged the fabric of our nation.

Under his failed leadership, we've seen over 8 million migrant encounters nationally, likely more than 200,000 deaths from fentanyl, and 331 apprehensions of people on the terror watchlist. This crisis did not happen by accident. It happened by design, and Secretary Mayorkas is the architect.

This week, the House Committee on Homeland Security voted to send articles of impeachment against the secretary to the House floor for a full vote. Since he continues to neglect his constitutional duties, my Republican colleagues and I are fulfilling ours by using congressional authority to remove him from office.

I represent 800,000 Texans who are fed up with the chaos and destruction Secretary Mayorkas has caused. He is the architect of the crisis at our southern border, rendering Texas ground zero, and we have had enough.

The Biden administration has abdicated its federal responsibility to secure our border, leaving Texas to fend for itself. That's why this week, I joined the Texas delegation in sending a letter of full support to Governor Greg Abbott in his efforts to secure the Homeland when the Biden administration blatantly refuses.

I also joined the Texas delegation at a press conference to further discuss the human tragedy unfolding at our border, and why it's high time for Secretary Mayorkas to be impeached.
