MY SUPPORT FOR THE TAX RELIEF FOR AMERICAN FAMILIES AND WORKERS ACT
Our tax policies must help our families combat the harsh impact of inflation, equip our farmers with the tools that they need to compete with China, and ensure that our businesses can grow, create jobs, and invest in our communities.
That's why, as a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, I proudly voted for the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act to lower costs for our families and ensure that our farmers and businesses can succeed and beat China.
This strong legislation allows our businesses to invest in research-and-development here at home, hire new employees, and keep our rural main streets strong.
It also includes provisions to build affordable homes in rural communities and increases the deduction for interest expenses to help our small businesses grow and meet payroll, particularly during this time of high interest rates.
This package is a victory for our families, farmers, businesses, and the American economy.

REMEMBERING SARAH ROOT ON THE 8TH ANNIVERSARY OF HER TRAGIC DEATH
This past Wednesday marked eight years since Scott and Michelle Root received a phone call that is every parent’s worst nightmare. Their 21-year-old daughter – Sarah – was killed in a car accident by an illegal immigrant who was driving while drunk. However, instead of being held in jail and prosecuted for his crimes, the illegal immigrant posted bail, was released from prison, and was never seen again.
In memory of Sarah, I’m working with Senator Ernst to pass Sarah’s Law so that illegal immigrants who seriously injure or kill American citizens are detained and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law – not released from jail without facing a jury. Our bill will make illegal immigrants answer for their crimes and deliver some semblance of justice for the Root family as we all continue to mourn Sarah’s premature and tragic death.

Ernst, Feenstra Continue the Fight to Pass Sarah's Law
On the 8th anniversary of Sarah Root's death, U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) and U.S. Representative Randy Feenstra (R-Iowa) continue their fight to pass Sarah's Law amidst President Biden's unprecedented border crisis. On January 31, 2016, the ...

DEFENDING IOWA'S INCREDIBLE PREGNANCY RESOURCE CENTERS
Pregnancy resource centers are a vital lifeline for women in need. I truly appreciate the work that they do to support Iowa families, promote the health and wellbeing of newborns, and defend the unborn. Their mission is worthy and necessary.
That’s why I proudly voted for the Supporting Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act, which would stop deliberate attempts by the Biden administration to effectively defund pregnancy centers.
As a father of four and a Christian, I believe that God created every person for a purpose and a reason to further His kingdom and that every life is worth protecting. Pregnancy resource centers share these values and live up to God’s word to advocate for the most vulnerable among us and protect His greatest gift – life.

MY AGRICULTURE LEGISLATIVE ASSISTANT MEETING WITH THE IOWA CORN GROWERS ASSOCIATION AND THE AGRICULTURAL RETAILERS ASSOCIATION
Yesterday, my Agriculture Legislative Assistant — Josh — met with young leaders in agriculture, including Garrett Asmus, who were in D.C. for the “Leadership at its Best” program arranged by the Agricultural Retailers Association.
Garrett calls the 4th Congressional District home and works at Asmus Farm Supply in Rake.
Josh also met with the President of the Iowa Corn Growers Association, Jolene Riessen, who farms with her sons in Ida and Sac counties.
Serving on the House Agriculture Committee and the House Ways and Means Committee, I’m working to pass a strong Farm Bill for Iowa, lower input costs, strengthen crop insurance, support the next generation of Iowa farmers, and stop EPA overreach against our farmers.

MY VOTES THIS WEEK TO HOLD ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS
This week, I voted to:
- Deport illegal immigrants found guilty of driving while drunk.
- Deport illegal immigrants who defraud social security.
- Punish drug traffickers and illegal immigrants who evade border patrol agents on dangerous high-speed car chases.
I will continue to ensure that we hold illegal immigrants accountable for their crimes.

WE NEED TO REDUCE OUR $34-TRILLION NATIONAL DEBT
Our national debt is over $34 trillion.
We need to stop borrowing money from our enemies, stop printing money out of thin air, and stop spending money that we don't have.
I'm working to stop President Biden's wasteful spending policies, balance our budget, and get our fiscal house in order.

MY BILL TO BAN CHINA FROM BUYING AMERICAN FARMLAND
I believe that American farmland belongs to American farmers.
That's why I introduced legislation — which passed the U.S. House of Representatives last March — to BAN China from buying American farmland.
It's time for Senate Democrats to pass this bill and President Biden to sign it into law!

MY WEEKLY COLUMN: DELIVERING TAX RELIEF FOR IOWA FAMILIES, FARMERS, AND SMALL BUSINESSES
I’ve long believed that cutting taxes for our families, farmers, and small businesses spurs investment in our rural communities, promotes economic growth, and creates good jobs. When we let hardworking Iowans keep more of their hard-earned money, folks are encouraged to start their own enterprises, hire new employees, support businesses up and down our rural main streets, and put money aside for a rainy day. At the end of the day, Iowans know far better than the federal government how they should spend their money.
As a strong voice for tax cuts and economic growth, I recently voted for the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act. This legislation – which passed the U.S. House of Representatives by a vote of 357 to 70 – will help our business community, support our families, build affordable housing, boost wages, and keep jobs rooted in rural Iowa.
