The recent incident involving AI-generated explicit images of Taylor Swift was appalling and shined a stark light on why we must take immediate action to address this disturbing trend. My legislation, the Preventing Deepfakes of Intimate Images Act, would finally make the non-consensual sharing of deepfakes illegal and establish both civil and criminal penalties.
On Tuesday morning, I joined Poppy Harlow and Bill Mattingly on CNN This Morning to talk about my bill. Deepfakes don’t just happen to celebrities—they’re happening to women and girls everywhere, every day. We need to put a stop to this, which is why I’ll continue working to get my legislation signed into law.
