The recent incident involving AI-generated explicit images of Taylor Swift was appalling and shined a stark light on why we must take immediate action to address this disturbing trend. My legislation, the Preventing Deepfakes of Intimate Images Act, would finally make the non-consensual sharing of deepfakes illegal and establish both civil and criminal penalties.

Deepfakes don’t just happen to celebrities—they’re happening to women and girls everywhere, every day. We need to put a stop to this, which is why I’ll continue working to get my legislation signed into law.
