** Don't miss Connor Boyack and Sonja Shaw at CPC's Parents, Not Partisans Summit
------------------------------------------------------------
Dear John,
As this election year heats up, it's more important than ever that parent advocates equip themselves with the tools needed to effectively mobilize on behalf of California families. That's why we're bringing together an all-star lineup of speakers for CPC's Parents, Not Partisans Summit in Sacramento on Tuesday, March 12—Wednesday, March 13, 2024.
On Tuesday, hear from Connor Boyack, president of the Libertas Institute and creator of the popular Tuttle Twins children's series, and Sonja Shaw, president of the Chino Valley Unified School Board!
Plus, CPC's Lance Christensen will moderate a series of panel discussions with some of California's most high-profile parental rights advocates and education reform leaders, and in-depth skill building sessions with grassroots and media strategists focused on:
* Grassroots Mobilization in an Election Year
* Grassroots Activism at Local School Boards
* Media Strategies for Parent Advocates
* Pushing Back against the Teachers’ Unions
* Parental Notification Policies, and more!

** Radio Free California #316: Putin on the Ritz
------------------------------------------------------------
On this week's podcast with CPC president Will Swaim and CPC board member David Bahnsen: Vladimir Putin has his eyes on former Russian holdings, and that has Will thinking about California’s Fort Ross — and, of course, John Sutter. CPC’s Lance Christensen discusses a statewide initiative on parents' rights. And, Pacific Legal Foundation attorney Wilson Freeman discusses his lawsuit to block the Biden administration’s new A.B. 5-style federal rule. Listen now. ([link removed])

** Newsom's Education Budget Lacks Tangible Targets
------------------------------------------------------------
Governor Gavin Newsom has released his proposed state budget for 2024-25, and the total spending for K-12 education is a whopping $126.8 billion. All this despite the fact that California public school enrollment is declining, and without — you guessed it — any accountability mechanisms tied to student achievement goals. CPC's Research Manager Sheridan Swanson breaks it down in her latest analysis here ([link removed]) .
** Biden Takes a Destructive California Idea National
------------------------------------------------------------
California's disastrous A.B. 5 crushed tens of thousands of California business owners — those who operate as independent contractors as well as those who employ or otherwise rely on them. Now the Biden administration has made clear it’ll follow California off a cliff, taking Newsom’s campaign against independent contractors national. CPC president Will Swaim explains in his latest National Review article ([link removed]) .
