Friends,

Today was another busy day at home for all of us with the Governor's announcement that (1) the schools will be closed through the end of the academic year and (2) all non-essential businesses will be closed and (3) Arlington County closing parks, fields and playgrounds to help slow the spread of the virus. We also made progress on feeding kids while schools are closed. *

The Governor's Press Conference Starts at 4 minutes 25 seconds and his Opening is Approximately 5 minutes in Length that is worth watching

The Governor announced today that schools in Virginia will close through the end of this academic year and that non-essential businesses would be closed. The decision on the schools applies to both public and private schools across Virginia to help prevent the spread of the virus. The decision on businesses is for 30 days and closes businesses that do not produce food for takeout as well as most others, but not all. Arlington County Closes Parks, Fields, and Playgrounds for Safety ([link removed])
Arlington County took the step of closing parks, fields, and playgrounds for our safety. I know this is a big step, but, in light of the concerns we have for each of our safety, it is the right one. Minimizing infections via strict social distancing will save lives. We can all exercise on our own or with the people who will live in our homes via a run or walk. Not easy, but we can do this.

Let's keep pulling together and make the sacrifices we need to, in order to help each other stay healthy. Please sign up for the above email that your County is sending out each day to say informed. And of course email me if you have questions.

* And, one last note that is positive: thanks to APS Superintendent and School Board, I am so pleased to share that feeding sites will be expanded to five sites on Wednesday:
