Friends,
It was a productive and busy week in Washington, DC. The Energy and Commerce Committee, which I am a member, took on Biden's so called 'Green Bank', a slush fund of government money to invest in environmental projects across the country. We also discussed ways to improve access to healthcare while reducing costs on patients and the government.
I also took important votes, including supporting a bipartisan pro-growth tax bill that will help parents and small businesses, while encouraging investment in manufacturing to create jobs and boost our economy.
The House also passed critical legislation that enforces penalties on illegal immigrants that commit crimes in America.
Sincerely,

Never Forget!
This week began with the sad news of three of our finest being killed, and dozens more injured, in a drone strike while serving our country in Jordan. We will never forget the brave service of Sgt. William Jerome Rivers, 46, Carrollton, GA; Spc. Kennedy Ladon Sanders, 24, Waycross, GA; and Spc. Breonna Alexsondria Moffett, 23, Savannah, GA.
The attack represents a major escalation by Iranian backed militias. Make no mistake, Iran is responsible. Iran backs these groups and often directs their actions. But so is Biden's tepid foreign policy. As we know, weakness invites aggression. No more of Biden's 'proportionate' responses. It is time for us to step up and hit back in a 'disproportionate' manner.
House Passed a Bipartisan Pro-Growth Tax Relief Bill
This week the House passed a bipartisan tax bill that will incentivize investments in manufacturing and energy production and modifies the child tax credit to help families who are being strapped by the lingering effects of inflation. This bill will boost our economy while providing tax relief to parents.
Ensuring Oversight of Biden's Green Bank Giveaway
This week Energy & Commerce’s Oversight and Investigation subcommittee hosted a hearing titled “Fighting the Misuse of Biden's Green Bank Giveaway”. At the hearing I questioned an EPA official about my concerns regarding the EPA’s largest waste of taxpayer funds, the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund.
Health Hearing on Healthcare Spending in the United States
In the Energy & Commerce Health Subcommittee, we also held a hearing to highlight the importance of addressing the increase in healthcare spending by the Federal government. We also looked at innovative ways to help patients access primary care, and to lower costs for small businesses.

More from the Capitol
Committee Work
In addition to the two hearings this week, in the Energy & Commerce Environment, Manufacturing & Critical Materials Subcommittee we heard from a panel of water system industry experts who discussed cyber security threats to our water systems and how to address them.
Legislation
In addition to the bipartisan tax bill that we passed, we also passed a number of bills amending related to illegal immigration, including stiffer penalties for those fleeing federal officers, and reforming the Immigration and Nationality Act to impose deportation for those who are charged with a DUI, and face criminal charges for those who commit social security fraud, support, finance or plan an attack against Israel, or have misused COVID relief funds.
ICYMI: This week I spoke with Fox News, CNN, NewsNation and Newsmax about tensions in the Middle East, the potential bipartisan border deal and the House moving forward with Articles of Impeachment against Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas
Your World with Neil Cavuto
Speaking with Neil Cavuto, I reiterated that Iran is directly responsible for the militia attacks on our military and ships in the Red Sea. Additionally, I said we must hit back in a way that makes them uncomfortable, we must establish a deterrence.
I also discussed the need to secure our border and stop the flow of illegal immigrants crossing our southern border, along with the potential of a bipartisan border bill from the Senate.
Additionally, we talked about the House Homeland Security Committee passing articles of impeachment against DHS Secretary Mayorkas.
CNN News Central with Brianna Keilar and Boris Sanchez
A strong deterrence has never started WWIII I told Brianna Keilar of CNN. Unfortunately, isolationists on the left and right still like to argue that deterrence will lead to war if we're too aggressive. But the inverse when we don't establish strong deterrence, Americans get killed. That is incentive enough to always strike harder.
NewsNation: The Hill with Blake Burman
This week I spoke with NewsNation about the need to make our enemies believe we will always hit them harder. Iran has a track record across the Middle East for training and equipping radical groups to get what they want. Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, to name a few. There's only one way to handle this kind of warfare, hit the puppets and the master harder.
Newsmax: Rob Schmitt Tonight
Biden's tepid responses to the more than 165 attacks on our men and women of the military since Oct. 7 is leading to an escalation by Iranian backed militias. What we need now is a response that establishes deterrence. To attain peace through strength, you can't forget the 'strength.'
