Give you a behind-the-scenes look at a few of my favorite things.

Wes Moore for Maryland

John, I want to share a few of my favorite things that you might not know about me.

In case it wasn’t obvious, I’m a major sports fan. The Ravens and the Orioles are my teams. I will admit, it was disappointing to see the Ravens lose in the last game — but I had a fantastic time cheering on the home team, and can’t wait to be back at the Bank Stadium next year! #RavensFlock

(Plus, baseball season is around the corner, go Orioles!)

In the meantime, I’ve got music to keep me company. I’ve always believed that every one of us is driven by a soundtrack. A song can bring you back to a specific moment in your life, whether that be your eighth-grade baseball game or your inauguration to become the Governor of Maryland.

At the Inaugural Ball, I was honored to share a dance with my wife to “The Makings of You” by Curtis Mayfield, which is one of our favorite songs.

When it comes to music, it’s been a part of my entire life. Growing up, reggae played throughout the house and has been a cherished genre to listen to all my life, especially on my long runs. If you’ve ever been in a meeting with me, you may have caught me reciting the lyrics to some of my favorite songs. This genre is one of the first that truly spoke to me and it carries so much meaning to me.

Now, this wouldn’t be an email about my favorite things if I didn’t get into some of my favorite foods. I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again, if you come to Maryland, you’ve got to have our crab cakes. Chick and Ruth’s in Annapolis is now serving “The Wes Moore” - crab cakes and waffles. Not only is crab the state food of Maryland, but it’s also a go-to in the Moore household.

I’ll end the email here so I can go grab a snack and let you get back to business.

Thank you for being here every step of the way.

Elevate,

Wes
