Medallion Hunt Begins Watch for daily clues posted at 9 a.m. Hunt for the medallion for a chance to win a Minnesota-themed gift basket!
Coloring Contest Begins Print your coloring sheet, or pick one up at City Hall, and return it by Feb. 11.
Friday, Feb. 9
Ice Block Party Food trucks, music with KidsDance, s?mores and cocoa; 4-6 p.m. at Friendly Hills Park.
Saturday, Feb. 10
Ice Fishing* Learn to fish on the ice at Rogers Lake, 9-11 a.m. This event is dependent on the conditions of the ice. Updates will be posted to the parks and recreation facebook page and registered participants will receive an email notice.
Valentine?s at the Village Live music and Cupid?s Crawl, 5-8 p.m. at Market Square Park

Weed of the Month: Russian Olive
Russian Olive is an invasive, non-native tree that grows 10 to 35 feet tall. Russian Olive trees reproduce quickly, especially in disturbed areas, and can sucker from roots. It was introduced to North America in the 1800s as an ornamental and windbreak tree. Russian Olive out-competes native trees with its ability to draw a significant amount of water from its surrounding area, especially along waterways.?

Landscaping for Clean Water
Design Course May 10; 12-4 p.m. Mendota Heights Fire Station
Dakota County Soil and Water Conservation District is again offering its Landscaping for Clean Water program. This program provides free educational classes, hands-on design courses, and cost-share grants to help you create a beautiful raingarden, native garden, or native shoreline planting that protects our local water quality and provides habitat for pollinators and other wildlife.
Mendota Heights will again be hosting an In-Person Design Course at the Fire Station; participants must first complete an Introduction to Clean Water class to register.

The City is updating the Mendota Heights Zoning Ordinance to be consistent with the adopted 2040 Comprehensive Plan. Join City staff, consultants and members of the Planning Commission for an Open House event to learn more and share your thoughts.
