Ever since the barbaric attacks from Hamas against Israel, something shocking has happened that no one expected to occur in the United States...

All of these are a wake-up call for those ordinary “liberals” who’ve too long ignored or compartmentalized evidence of the illiberal intolerance of their fellow travelers.

I’ve seen this first hand -- in my own family.

I’ve always been in the minority, the lone Republican in a family of Democrats. One thing that united us was a shared commitment to Israel. My little brother was bar mitzvahed at Jerusalem’s Wailing Wall. My little sister worked for a summer at Kfar Aza -- the kibbutz where 70 Hamas terrorists beheaded, dismembered, and burned alive at least 100 civilians, taking others hostage.

Like others, they’re now forced to reckon with why so many of their friends and allies on the intersectional left not only fail to morally condemn the slaughter -- but actively celebrate it.

Many of those formerly on the left (including myself) have had their own “wake-up calls” that sparked a new, ideological awakening. For some, it was 9/11. For others, it was the government overreach that sparked the Tea Party movement. For still others, more recently, it was the Covid lockdowns and mandates.

For me, it was discovering Ayn Rand.

It wasn’t just the beautiful literature and suspenseful fiction. It was the moral clarity that she brought to profound questions:

What is the nature of evil?
What is the purpose of life?
What is a just society?

Ayn Rand also brought a clarity so desperately needed by those grappling with any semblance of moral equivalency between the Hamas terrorists and their civilian victims: "When you have civilized men fighting savages, you support the civilized men...Israel is the only country based on the protection of individual rights in the entire Middle East."

My hope is that the despicable slaughter of 1,400 Israeli civilians -- the equivalent of 67,000 Americans based on population -- and the gleeful reaction of so many of the “woke” warriors can serve as a similarly transformational wake-up call for those who’ve been sleepwalking through the wholescale takeover of American institutions by the anti-American, anti-Israel, anti-semitic hard-core left.

In this twisted version of re-imagined Marxism, those mounting terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians are instead heroic acts of defiance against Western values such as individual rights, free markets, and the rule of law.

It's because they’ve been poisoned.

Poisoned with an ugly philosophy of Postmodernism -- which is a wholesale assault on objectivity, reason, beauty, and truth. This dangerous philosophy is a disease that spreads quickly, and only one thing can stop it… A battle of ideas.
