I'm committed to doing everything I can to make flying as safe as we know it can and we deserve it to be.

John,

Earlier this week, Boeing withdrew their request to the FAA for an emergency safety exemption that would allow for the certification of a new variant of their 737 MAX series of planes.

I’m relieved at this news, and appreciate that Boeing is putting the flying public first by withdrawing their exemption request—after I personally urged the CEO to do so and called on the FAA to reject the request if they didn’t.

As the chairman of the Subcommittee on Aviation Safety, Operations, and Innovation, I've worked with the FAA, aircraft manufacturers and my Senate colleagues on a number of issues — from strengthening pilot training standards to updating emergency evacuation procedures — to make flying as safe as we know it can and we deserve it to be.

Speaking as a retired pilot myself, these are all issues that are near to me personally.

That's why I'm committed to doing everything I can to ensure passenger safety is a top priority, and it's why I'm asking you today:

Will you add your name to my petition in support of ALWAYS putting the safety of the flying public first? It's critical that our movement is united on this important issue.

ADD YOUR NAME

The bottom line here is that all airline passengers and crew deserve to know that the commercial aircraft we all rely on to get from place to place are safe.

Thanks for adding your voice to mine today.

All my best,

Tammy
