Pressed by Moms for Liberty, Florida school district adds clothing to illustrations in classic children's books
In an absolutely ridiculous show of pearl-clutching prudishness and obnoxious overreach, Maurice Sendak's beloved children's book "In The Night Kitchen" — a Caldecott Honor Book published in 1970 — has been censored by a school district in Indian River County, Florida. Yes, everyone's favorite sleepytime baker has been forced to put on underwear in case any children see a depiction of another child's penis, which Florida busybody and local Moms for Liberty chapter head Jennifer Pippin considered "pornographic." Also considered pornographic was an abstract painting of two naked adults by Eric Carle (yeah, the caterpillar guy) and a picture of a goblin's butt in the book "Unicorns Are The Worst." Unfortunately, Popular Info did not take the opportunity to ask Pippin whether or not she thought people were all smooth down there like a Ken doll or why she immediately thinks about sex the moment she sees a goblin's ass. VIDEO OF THE DAY: Trump undercuts his own attorney with humiliating move
Fresh off a staggering $83 MILLION defeat, the disgraced ex-president appeared to throw his future former attorney, Alina Habba, under the bus with a social media post announcing a search for new legal counsel to continue fighting his deeply damaging defamation case in New York City. Brian Tyler Cohen and Glenn Kirschner break it down in expert fashion.

GOP millionaire to swoop in on crucial battleground Senate race
Tammy Baldwin for Senate: Republican leadership confirms that California bank owner, Eric Hovde, is planning a run for Senator Tammy Baldwin’s must-win seat. This man is a megamillionaire capable of pouring at least $20 million dollars from his own fortune into the race — and you know that McConnell’s dark-money network is set to pour millions more in to replace Senator Baldwin with a right-wing extremist ready to do Trump’s bidding. Will you chip in to help re-elect Senator Baldwin and protect our Senate majority?
FBI reportedly MISSED hidden room during Mar-a-Lago search
Ah, for f*ck's sake, people. FBI agents searching the disgraced ex-president's garish golf compound in 2022 apparently MISSED multiple rooms, according to new evidence from special counsel Jack Smith’s investigation, including a closet and a "hidden room" connected to Trump’s bedroom. Investigators believe there may still be classified documents at Trump’s Florida estate. Incredible.

Key Republican refuses to impeach Mayorkas, leaving slim margin for error
Retiring Colorado Republican Ken Buck said Thursday morning that he’s a "solid" no on impeaching Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, raising questions about whether the House GOP has the votes to pull off the incredibly stupid and largely symbolic act. The GOP can afford to lose just two votes on the floor if all members are present and voting. Even if they somehow do succeed, the nakedly political stunt is dead on arrival in the Senate, where Republicans won't get anywhere close to the 67 votes needed to remove Mayorkas from office. Definitely a good use of their time and American taxpayers' dollars, though.

Republican Senate hopeful Steve Garvey no family man, according to his children
Three adult children of Steve Garvey — the former major leaguer now running for Senate as a Republican in California — say his public image as a "devoted family man" doesn’t stand up to scrutiny. The ex-Los Angeles Dodger, who hopes to be the successor to the late Dianne Feinstein, is accused of cutting off some of his progeny, two of whom were born out of wedlock. Garvey’s oldest child, Krisha Garvey, 49, said he cut her off for unknown reasons 15 years ago. "There’s something lacking in him, something not authentic," she said. "I wouldn’t want the people of California to buy into that just because he hit a ball really well." Swing and a miss!

US approves plan to strike Iranian targets in Syria and Iraq, officials say
The United States has approved plans for a series of strikes on Iranian targets in Syria and Iraq over the coming days, and weather conditions will likely dictate when they are launched. It comes after a drone attack killed three US soldiers in Jordan carried out by the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, which is allegedly funded and trained by Iran's Revolutionary Guards force. The group has said it was responsible for Sunday's strike. Iran, meanwhile, has denied any role in the attack which also injured 41 other US troops at the military base, known as Tower 22. For what it's worth, US intelligence believes that Iran does not have "full authority" over the groups that it allegedly backs but rather "shared ambitions and agendas."

Biden has an "obsession" with MSNBC's Morning Joe, apparently often seeks advice from Joe Scarborough, per Axios report
Look, we're assuming TV personality Joe Scarborough and co-host Mika Brzezinski occasionally, accidentally have interesting things to say, but surely the president of the United States can find a slightly better use of his precious time. While it's certainly nothing compared to Donald Trump's widely reported 'round-the-clock consumption of Fox News' bullshit, Axios notes that White House aides are frequently booked between 7 and 7:40 am ET so they'll reach one crucial and loyal viewer who tunes in on the regular: President Biden.
Israel revises estimate, claims only 4 UNRWA staff participated in October 7 massacres
In a very telling revision, Israeli intelligence now says that only six staffers — not 12 — of the 13,000-member UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees participated in Hamas' October 7 terror attacks, and only four were directly involved in kidnapping. Sky News noted that "the Israeli intelligence documents make several claims that Sky News has not seen proof of and many of the claims, even if true, do not directly implicate UNRWA." None of this stopped the United States or several other host nations from suspending funding to the only humanitarian agency operating inside the devastated Gaza Strip. Action Aid said the funding freeze "spells a death sentence for millions of Palestinians in Gaza and the surrounding regions." Israel has killed 152 UNRWA workers and bombed 145 of its facilities over the course of the war, including schools and hospitals.
Biden to sanction Israeli settlers in the West Bank
President Biden issued an executive order Thursday targeting Israeli settlers in the West Bank following the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old American citizen last month. Biden's order will target settlers who "directly perpetrated violence, and those who have engaged in repeated acts of intimidation property destruction, leading to the forced displacement of Palestinian communities." The sanctions are focused on visa restrictions for foreign nationals, some of whom have already been prosecuted in the Israeli justice system. Biden's decision was made following the death of American teenager, Tawfic Hafeth Abdel Jabbar, who was shot and killed last month during a visit to the West Bank to learn more about his Palestinian heritage. His family says he was the victim of settler violence.
Louisiana sues EPA for emails of journalists and "Cancer Alley" residents
Louisiana’s far-right government has quietly obtained hundreds of pages of communications between the Environmental Protection Agency and journalists, legal advocates, and community groups focused on environmental justice in its quest to shield giants of industry from accountability, because serving the people is quite clearly secondary to licking the filthy boots of the oil and gas behemoths who for decades have poisoned the region dubiously known as "Cancer Alley."
