** My Ashford Town Survey
------------------------------------------------------------

In this newsletter I want to highlight the results of my Ashford Town Survey. Thank you to everyone who filled in my survey form. I had 1,200 responses so this provides a good indication of the improvements people really want to see in their town centre. You can see the results of the survey in full here ([link removed]) .

I will also be sharing the full findings with Ashford Borough Council. You will see that the biggest reasons for staying away from the town centre are a lack of the right shops and parking charges. The shops people most want to see come to Ashford are Primark and Marks and Spencer.

I will act on these findings by trying to persuade these stores to look again at Ashford, and by engaging the Police and Crime Commissioner for Kent in helping assure people that the town centre is a safe place for shopping and other leisure activities.

** Ashford Jobs Fair
------------------------------------------------------------

I also want to highlight the success of my Jobs Fair last week which was held in Ashford in partnership with the Job Centre. These Jobs Fairs are a great way of helping people find a fulfilling future. We had 22 employers and over 350 prospective jobseekers attending, either looking for their first job or considering a change in career. Thank you to everyone who attended and I will be looking to hold similar events in the future.
