I can't do it. Not yet.

My campaign staff tell me we have been radio silent.

No stirring prose about why we need to beat my opponent.

We've wound down our in-person fundraising and decreased our online donation appeals.

All I can think about is what our country is going through.

Schools closed. Seniors worried. Hard working people losing their jobs.

So let me break a few rules.

Willie Wilson is considering running against me as an independent. I hope he doesn't.

But whether he does or not, I want to salute him for donating 10,000 medical masks and 1,000 more advanced "N-95" masks to the Chicago Police and Fire Departments. That was a class move.

So here's my ask.

To help do our part, I have selected these food banks that are serving different parts of our state and region and are in need of our support: the Greater Chicago Food Depository, Midwest Food Bank, Operation Food Search, Northeast Community Fund, and the Central Illinois Food Bank.

Additionally, I'm asking you to support the Chicago Community COVID-19 Response Fund and COVID-19 Response Fund for the Greater Capital Region of Illinois. Relief funds like these offer critical lifelines of support for the local, non-profit organizations on the frontlines of this crisis.
