February is Black History Month. We celebrate because, for too long the role of
Black Americans in our country’s long and painful history has been ignored,
belittled, or distorted. But we cannot forget the history and contributions of
generations of folks who have made this country what it is today.

While there are a dozen names that come to mind when we think of Black
American history – Martin Luther King Jr., Harriett Tubman, Rosa Parks, Maya
Angelou, Barack Obama – there are countless other Black Americans who have
significantly contributed to Black liberation, the foundations of American
democracy, community building, politics, and every sect of cultural growth.

At a time when history and education, particularly relating to Black
Americans, are being rolled back and distorted, it’s more important than ever
that we acknowledge and celebrate Black History Month. Our shared history is
what makes this country special, and we cannot grow as a country if we do not
come together and collectively decide to move forward.

We hope that you will take time today to reflect on the importance of Black
History Month, and we at Team Padora wish you a happy and healthy day.

Best,
