Dear Friends --
Since 2017, over 80,000 new accessory dwelling units (ADUs) have been built in backyards, attics, and garages across California, thanks in part the the advocacy of a coalition of pro-housing groups.
But how did ADU laws change in 2016 and how have they changed since? Where are ADUs being built, and who did they serve? And what can the experience of ADU legalization teach us about housing reform? The California YIMBY Education Fund put out a brand new report, California ADU Reform: A Retrospective, to help us understand the impact of ADUs. Now we want to bring you into the conversation -- and help spread the word about this policy success.
Join us on Zoom on Thursday, February 8 at 6PM to learn more about ADUs and California housing policy!
Nolan Gray, Research Director at California YIMBY, and Ryan O’Connell, founder of How to ADU, will have a spirited discussion on ADUs and what we can do to build on this success. We hope to see you next week!
