Right-wing media outlets are tripling down on the outlandish conspiracy theory that Taylor Swift, Joe Biden, Travis Kelce, and the NFL (whose teams are mostly owned by Trump supporters) are rigging the upcoming Super Bowl to defeat Trump.
They are terrified that Taylor Swift may endorse Democrats again in 2024 like she did in 2018 and mobilize millions of loyal fans, including many first-time voters, to defeat Donald Trump. They fear people voting and want to intimidate Swift into silence.
As Obama communications director Dan Pfeiffer says, Democrats should lean into this moment. Because Republicans look really "weird" and it's a losing fight for them to pick.
Swift and the NFL "are pastimes, well-respected brands, and beloved by millions. 56 million people watched [football] on Sunday night and a little more than 2 million people watch Sean Hannity... most voters don’t know just how far from the mainstream Republicans have wandered. Therefore, it’s our job to tell them."
We never thought we'd say this but: Talk with your friends and family about Taylor Swift! One way is to share these social media posts on Facebook here, here, and here; on Threads here, here, and here; on BlueSky here and here, and on Twitter (X) here, here, and here.
The PCCC is working hard every day to mobilize people in battleground states and districts to defeat Trump fascism in 2024. Consider being a $5 monthly donor to support this work. (Or donate one time here.)
Republicans should be afraid of Taylor Swift. Last year, a single Instagram post of hers spurred over 35,000 people to register to vote. And in her 2020 documentary Miss Americana, Taylor said she wishes she had spoken out more in 2016 to help defeat Donald Trump.
Thanks for helping to save democracy in 2024,
