Managing Chronic Health Conditions

School Nurses Caring for Students With Rare Seizure Disorders

Schools offer an opportunity to support students with epilepsy by addressing their self-management, physical, and social needs and providing training to help them progress through school and beyond. NASN's NCPD program, Rare Seizure Disorders: Practice Considerations for School Nurses, provides information on the school nurse role in caring for students with rare seizures/epilepsy. By participating, you will learn about common characteristics of students with rare seizure disorders, how to treat students with these disorders, and strategies to provide care coordination for students with epilepsy using the NASN Framework for 21st Century School Nursing Practice™.

Support the Mental Well-Being of LGBTQIA2S+ Youth

Schools play an important role in promoting positive mental health and well-being among LGBTQIA2S+ youth and their families. Suicide Prevention Resource Center's Mental Health Promotion and Suicide Prevention for LGBTQIA2S+ Youth: A Focus Guide for School Professionals offers recommendations and strategies for creating inclusive, affirming, and protective environments for LGBTQIA2S+ youth and includes links to more in-depth resources and trainings.
