Dear Friend –
I have some really exciting news!! Just a few days ago, President Biden made the bold decision to temporarily pause proposals for the export of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), a dirty fossil fuel, to evaluate its impacts on the environment, energy costs, and security.
President Biden's commitment to tackling the climate crisis through historic climate investments and a focus on environmental justice is something to celebrate – especially for a state like Pennsylvania which relies far too heavily on the dirty fossil fuel policies of the past that have disproportionately polluted frontlined communities.
The more President Biden hears from us, the more big actions like this he will take. I have already sent a thank-you message to the President, and I urge you to do the same: [link removed]. When we all lift up our voices, our leaders can hear that we’re paying attention and will continue to make pro-conservation decisions!
TAKE ACTION: [link removed]
Our Commonwealth has witnessed the effects of climate change firsthand – the historic severe weather and record temperatures we have recently experienced have left a lasting impact on our communities. Those impacts are even more severe for Black, Brown, and low-income communities that have been consistently overlooked in building resilient infrastructure.
This action on natural gas is so important in moving us forward towards the clean energy future that will help mitigate the effects of climate change and protect the planet for all of our children and grandchildren.
In a time when some may choose to deny the urgency of the climate crisis, the Biden Administration's unwavering dedication to turning the crisis into opportunity for growth is commendable. Oftentimes, LNG plants are located in Black, Brown, and low-income communities where they release dangerous pollution into the air and water. Pausing export proposals and reviewing public interest concerns will be a considerable step to helping these communities.
This decision sends a clear signal that the administration is taking the global commitment to transition away from fossil fuels seriously. No president has done more on climate, from day-one executive orders to the historic investments in the Inflation Reduction Act to this announcement. President Biden is slashing climate pollution, increasing affordable, renewable energy, and transitioning away from fossil fuels.
Send President Biden a thank-you message now for his bold leadership and commitment to a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable world: [link removed]
