John,

As we confront this pandemic, we need to understand how we got here, what measures we have in place, and how we move forward to ensure the health and safety of all Americans.

Viruses do not care if you are insured or not. The fact of the matter is that we cannot fight the coronavirus effectively until free testing is available for everyone. Workers should not have to choose between staying home and getting the paycheck they need to provide for their families.

Without the Affordable Care Act, over a quarter of a million Iowans would lack health insurance right now. Right there are a quarter of a million reasons why we need to make sure we keep the Affordable Care Act in place -- and continue to expand quality, affordable healthcare.

On the 10 year anniversary of the ACA being signed, can you join us in signing our petition to preserve this landmark piece of legislation? As this epidemic sweeps through communities big and small across Iowa and the country, we must keep our friends, family, and neighbors healthy -- and this begins by ensuring they have affordable treatment, medications, and vaccines.

Since the passage of the ACA 10 years ago, it’s been on the chopping block. We need to stop threatening this legislation and the insurance coverage of 30 million Americans.

During a health crisis (especially one like this), the last thing folks should be concerned about is losing their health insurance.

Health comes first -- which is why we all need affordable healthcare. Add your name to our petition calling on the preservation of the ACA.

Stay safe out there.

Thank you,

Team Scholten
