Friend,

As we begin Black History Month, it only seems fitting to celebrate the significant strides President Biden has made in diversifying our federal judiciary. In fact, Biden has nominated more than one third of all Black women federal judges in U.S. history! But there’s more work that can and must be done and we cannot ease the pressure now.

Sign our petition to the Senate and urge them to prioritize the confirmation of more judicial nominees that represent the diverse background of our nation! >>

The nominees that have been put forward by President Biden reflect a rich blend of professional expertise, diverse backgrounds, and unwavering dedication to upholding the principles of our Constitution. These nominees represent the very best of our legal community and are poised to make significant contributions to our judiciary.

There are several standout judges whose records demonstrate a stellar commitment to protecting civil rights and equality for all. Their confirmation to the federal bench has brought not only a wealth of experience but also a fresh perspective that is crucial for ensuring a judiciary that reflects the diversity of our nation. Judges like:

  • Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson – the first Black woman to serve on our nation’s highest court.
  • U.S. Circuit Judge Nancy Abudu (11th Circuit) – prior to her confirmation, Judge Nancy Abudu was a lawyer with the Southern Poverty Law Center and the ACLU, where she was a strong defender of voting rights.
  • U.S. Circuit Judge Holly Thomas (9th Circuit) – throughout much of her career, Judge Thomas spent years defending civil rights at the NAACP Legal Defense Fund and at the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division.
  • U.S. District Judge Jamal Whitehead – during his career prior to joining the bench, Judge Whitehead represented employees in discrimination and other workplace issue cases, protecting the rights of workers everywhere.
  • And the list goes on…

There are more than a dozen additional judicial nominees awaiting confirmation votes by the full Senate. These nominees’ dedication to civil rights and the rule of law underscores President Biden's commitment to appointing judges who will uphold the rule of law while promoting fairness and impartiality in our legal system – which is why we must urge the Senate to act!

By signing our petition, you will join thousands of others in expressing support for the confirmation of all of President Biden's judicial nominees, sending a clear message to the Senate that we demand a fair and expeditious confirmation process. Together, we can ensure that our judiciary remains strong, diverse, and reflective of the ideals upon which our nation was founded.

Please take a moment to add your name to the petition and share it with your friends, family, and colleagues. >>

Together, we can make a difference and help shape a judiciary that serves all Americans.

Thank you for your commitment to justice and equality.
