After a nearly ten-year absence, Comedy Central has announced that Jon Stewart will return to the Daily Show starting on February 12th. He will host on Monday nights, and serve as the show's executive producer throughout the 2024 presidential election season.
This is badly needed at this moment. When America suffered during the Bush regime, Jon Stewart's satire provided more than just comic relief.
His incisive take on the news of the day made him among the most trusted sources in America, allowing us to fight back against right-wing lies. Stewart left the Daily Show in 2015, one year before Donald Trump was elected president and we have missed him since.
Now that an ex-president who led a violent insurrection to overthrow the last election threatens to take back the White House, we need voices like Jon Stewart to speak truth to power. Let's give him a hearty welcome back as we gear up for a very long presidential election season.
