John,

This is the moment we’ve been building for — Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is directly challenging Ground Game’s popular work to advance marijuana reform at the city level.

Yesterday, Paxton announced he’d filed lawsuits against five of the cities where Ground Game Texas passed marijuana reform in 2022. He called Ground Game and our coalition partners “pro-crime” because we support common sense reforms.

Ground Game can now show how Texas Republicans oppose extremely popular reforms for marijuana enforcement. Please contribute $25 or more today for our legal advocacy and get-out-the-vote programs. [[link removed]]

We chose marijuana reform as a focus because it is extremely popular among Texans of all political backgrounds, and because it would show how the Texas Republican Party is on the wrong side of popular opinion. Now we have an amazing opportunity to prove our theory of change.

In Austin, 85% of voters supported marijuana reform. In San Marcos, 82% of voters supported marijuana reform. In Killeen, it was 69%; in Elgin, 70%; and in Denton, 70%. These are extremely popular policies.

Ken Paxton is a hypocrite who has been indicted for federal crimes, has admitted to violating whistleblower laws, and is under FBI investigation. Now we are fighting him in court to protect local democracy. Please support this fight today. [[link removed]]

With determination,
