Congress is working hard to pass responsible funding legislation. But now some Republicans in the House are attempting to include changes that would hamstring the very environmental programs we’ve fought so hard for. But the battle isn’t over yet.
Far-right Republicans in the House continue to threaten the budget process by trying to tack on “poison pills'' — broadly unpopular policies that are inserted into larger legislative packages. These proposed policies threaten climate progress and public health and include attempts to repeal all of President Biden’s executive orders on climate, defund clean school bus programs and halt other initiatives that combat the climate crisis.
But we are optimistic that climate leaders in Congress will push back on these dangerous attempts to undermine climate progress. It’s imperative they hear from us and understand we support their actions to bolster funding bills that protect climate and clean energy investments!
