Blind Date with a Book!
February 1 - 29
We all know we shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but ignoring those catchy titles and splashy graphics is hard. At the Hurst Public Library, we're here to help you see past all that. Let us set you up on a (literary) blind date!
Step 1: Look for our Blind Date with a Book giveaway tables. Step 2: Admire the wrapping: you'll find clues about what sort of book you're holding. Step 3: When you find one that sounds intriguing, take it home! There's no need to check it out; it's yours to keep!
Throw caution to the wind and take home a book you've never met before! This giveaway runs all month long, so if the first date doesn't work out, you can always come back for another.

Hidden Tarrant County History
Tuesday, February 27, 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
The Tarrant County Black Historical & Genealogical Society has been uncovering and preserving the history of Black Tarrant County since 1977. Our presentation will showcase the collections and stories of an underrepresented community that would have stayed hidden if not for the efforts of people like our founder, Mrs. Lenora Rolla.
Mrs. Rolla's collection exemplifies years of efforts and dedication to preserving Black history and establishing the TCBHGS. Mrs. Rolla preserved collections on the first Freedom Settlements in Tarrant County, The Garden of Eden, and Mosier Valley. The history of Black business leaders, William Madison McDonald, Tarrant County's (Texas') first black millionaire, Dr. Riley Ransom Sr., Tarrant County's first African American surgeon who owned and operated the only hospitals to serve the community. These stories only touch the surface of the extraordinary people and histories we share.
