AKRON, OH — Yesterday, Congresswoman Emilia Sykes reported raising $540,816.79 in the fourth quarter of 2023, more than doubling the entire GOP field combined when not including personal loans. Her campaign heads into the 2024 election year with more than $1 million cash on hand, once again more than doubling the entire GOP field.
“Congresswoman Sykes’ strong grassroots support propelled her to raise more than double the entire GOP primary field in a clear sign that the voters of Ohio’s 13th Congressional district stand with her as she fights to lower costs, protect women’s freedom to make their own healthcare decisions, and keep our communities safe,” said Campaign Manager Damon Drew. “While our potential opponents rely on self funding and the millions we know are coming from Washington special interests, the Congresswoman will continue working on behalf of all her constituents.”
Sykes' support came from over 4,500 individual donors with the average online contribution just $29.92, displaying the real grassroots support behind Sykes’ campaign.
Sykes is serving the second year of her first two-year term representing Ohio’s 13th Congressional District. Her top priority is making government work for her district. During her tenure, she has brought back more than $100 million in federal dollars to the district, including $42 million to improve public transit in Northeast Ohio. Sykes also helped secure Akron’s designation as a tech hub for polymer development, meaning the region is eligible for hefty federal grants funded from a $10 billion reserve set aside in the CHIPS Act.
