Jack, sign the petition to Congress: Reduce child poverty. Expand the Child Tax Credit.

SIGN THE PETITION

The U.S. House has just passed a bipartisan tax plan that includes an expansion of the Child Tax Credit. This lelgislation will now go to the Senate.

This is Congress' opportunity to help a huge proportion of America’s children and their families. Currently, 19 million children are excluded from some or all of the Child Tax Credit because their families do not earn enough to qualify for it. Expanding the Child Tax Credit could help remedy this–lifting hundreds of thousands of children out of poverty and helping millions of American families.

Although these improvements do not go as far as they should, we can start here while we continue to advocate to expand the Child Tax Credit further. Families need this help now!

Sign the petition to Congress: Pass the bipartisan proposal to expand the Child Tax Credit.

Congress has announced a bipartisan tax policy agreement that would expand the Child Tax Credit for about 80% of families with low incomes. If passed, this would provide relief to millions.

The monthly checks parents received in 2021 as part of the previous expanded Child Tax Credit were a HUGE help to millions of families and even cut child poverty in half. After the Child Tax Credit expansion lapsed in 2022, child poverty nearly doubled, reverting back to its pre-pandemic level.

The proposed expansion could benefit 16 million children and lift 400,000 of them out of poverty, which is a great start to reducing child poverty. We must do everything we can to bring as much of the Child Tax Credit as possible.

Sign the petition to Congress: Pass the bipartisan proposal to expand the Child Tax Credit.
