DIFS Highlights Stable, Rewarding Jobs in Michigan During Insurance Careers Month

(LANSING, MICH) February is Insurance Careers Month and the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS) is highlighting the benefits of working in the insurance field and the many good paying in-demand jobs available to Michiganders.

?Michigan's insurance industry has jobs available for people with many different skill sets, educational backgrounds, and specializations,? said DIFS Director Anita Fox. ?Some of the nation?s largest insurance companies call Michigan home, and Insurance Careers Month is a great time to investigate how a career in the insurance industry could benefit you, your family, and your future.?

More than 80,000 Michiganders work in the insurance industry, according to a study conducted by the Insurance Information Institute, with salaries totaling approximately $6 billion a year. The Insuring MI Future Coalition, a 501(c)3 created to raise awareness of insurance career opportunities in Michigan, finds that careers in the insurance industry tend to be stable and high paying, with an average salary of $60,000, substantially higher than the average of $45,000 for other industries.?

To fill new positions, companies in these industries need employees with a variety of educational backgrounds and skills, including:

• Cybersecurity
• Marketing
• Communications
• Accounting
• Economics
• Management
• Human Resources
• Legal
• Actuarial
