You've already had a big impact in 2024
Hi John,
How better to get 2024 underway than a big tiger celebration? It’s 20 years since our conservation work began in India and, thanks to your support, we’ve had a terrific impact. Tiger numbers are up 160% to 3,682, with India now home to 75% of all wild tigers.
No wonder Sir David Attenborough sent his congratulations!
Tigers on the up
Read all about it in this tiger-tastic report, just in from Satpuda Landscape Tiger Partnership. Our network of local organisations, founded in 2004, helps people and tigers live alongside each other, in India’s vast forests.

Every tiger matters
This year, we’re also marking the 10th anniversary of Gopal the tiger arriving at our sanctuary in India. Wild-born Gopal came into conflict with local people after preying on livestock – which is why our work is so important!

THE EXCHANGE TRIP
We’ve been rescuing big cats since 1987, but there’s always more to learn! Our sanctuary teams from South Africa and Ethiopia have been sharing their expertise and celebrating another very special day.

REMEMBERING ELSA
A few days ago would have been the birthday of this iconic lioness, featured on our logo. In Elsa’s memory, our charity is also devoted to protecting wild lions – we even named a pride in her honour in Kenya!
ELSA'S LEGACY
Congrats Limbe
Our long-term colleagues in Cameroon are celebrating three decades of wildlife rehab and release. We’ve supported them since 2004, not least their work to rescue chimps, gorillas and parrots from illegal wildlife trade.
30 YEARS
Cruel & ineffective
Closer to home, a vital new report calls for an end to England’s barbaric badger cull. With some ¼ million badgers killed since 2013, please call on the Government to end the cull and introduce humane alternatives by signing our petition.
SIGN TODAY
There’s certainly been a lot to celebrate this month – but we won’t stop there. With your support, we will keep fighting for a better future for all wild animals, in the UK and around the world. Together, we’re stronger.
With thanks,
From the Born Free team
