Friend –

COVID-19, the new coronavirus pandemic spreading around the globe, has families here and around the world increasingly concerned. As the situation evolves, it has already affected the communities where Oxfam works – and if this disease hits refugee camps and places where people are already hard-pressed to access adequate and affordable health care, the impact could be devastating.

Your Oxfam membership puts you on the front lines helping people struggling in the world's worst humanitarian crises, including this one.

We are working with our partners, government health ministries, and key UN agencies in 65 countries to coordinate our response. Given our expertise in public health, and water and sanitation, many of our teams are increasing their delivery of soap and sanitation services, including handwashing facilities and clean water – to help prevent the spread of the virus among people in higher-risk areas.

We need your support today to reach the goal of 1,000 renewing members by March 27 to keep up this work – and continue tackling the injustice of poverty in every country where we operate. Please review your Oxfam membership status and renew your support by making a gift before March 27 >>

2020 Oxfam Membership: PENDING

Contributed to 2020 Membership Drive? NOT YET

Here's how your Oxfam membership will immediately go to work to make a difference this year in addition to our COVID-19 response:

  • Expanding our critical climate change work in the Amazon. Together, we can strengthen land rights claims and curb massive land grabs that result in deforestation.
  • Reforming the traditional system of emergency response. We can make disaster response efforts faster, fairer, more efficient, and more effective by putting more power, skills, and resources in the hands of local humanitarian leaders.
  • Continue vigorously pursuing a wide range of gender justice initiatives, particularly in Central America, where there's a higher incidence of gender-based violence, which is a major cause of displacement and migration.

We're working tirelessly on these and so many other fronts, because no matter how big the challenges or how difficult the circumstances, Oxfam is committed to doing whatever it takes – for as long as it takes – to save people's lives. We know you share that commitment – and now we're asking for your support to keep up all these efforts.

I promise you that we will continue to be relentless and determined in our efforts to respond to emergencies and keep on track essential long-term projects that are changing people's lives every day.

Will you stand with us by renewing your support before our March 27 deadline? Your caring and compassion – and your renewed financial support – are vitally important. Please let us hear from you today.

Sincerely,
Abby Maxman
President, Oxfam America
