INTRODUCING 'FAST FACT FRIDAYS'! Every Friday, we'll share impactful sexual health education and research stats on social media. Kicking off with a crucial insight: The Texas teen birth rate saw its first increase in 15 years in 2022, even as the overall US teen birth rate continued to decline. Though the increase was small – less than half a percent – this starkly contrasts the previous 5 years, where we witnessed an average annual decline of 8%.
Disturbingly, disparities among Black and Hispanic teens worsened in 2022. On a brighter note, preliminary data suggests a small decline in Texas teen birth rates for 2023. Evidence shows that high-quality sex education can help reduce rates of unintended pregnancy and set teens up for a lifetime of health. Join us to raise awareness and spark conversations!
