Yesterday, Representative Buddy Carter and I led a moment of silence on the House floor to honor Sgt. Rivers, Spc. Sanders, and Spc. Moffet. We were joined by the entire Georgia delegation. I paid tribute to Sgt. Rivers’ heroism and spoke on his decorated service in the Army Reserves. Please keep Sgt. Rivers’ wife Darlene and son William Jr. in your prayers.

This week, the House Budget Committee held a hearing to assess the role of the Congressional Budget Office (CBO). The CBO continues to come up short on providing accurate projections on a host of budgetary scores.

I questioned Director Phillip Swagel about the CBO's accuracy and the broken scoring system they use. I also pressed him on the need for quarterly audits of the CBO. With our national deficit surpassing $30 trillion, it is vitally important that we get accurate scoring on the cost of legislation.

Yesterday, I met with representatives from the Georgia Gas Authority. We had a great discussion about ways to further support American energy independence. Thank you to the Georgia Gas Authority for making the trip up to Washington! 

Congratulations to Christy Todd of Rising Starr Middle School in Fayetteville, GA for being named a finalist for 2024 National Teacher of the Year! This is an incredible accomplishment. We thank her for her dedication to her students and to our community.
