This is definitely not the election year I expected. In fact, nothing about what's happening right now is what I expected.

COVID-19 is changing just about every facet of our daily lives -- and it's posing a major threat to our democracy. When bad news is breaking all around me, doing something about it makes me feel back in control. So let's do something right now that can protect you and your neighbor's right to vote this year.

As of this writing, we've already driven over 50,000 calls to Congress (!) to demand funding for vote-by-mail -- and other policies like early voting and online voter registration -- is included in the next COVID-19 relief package. Let's keep the momentum rolling.

Senators are debating what will be in the next relief package now, and your calls could make the difference in ensuring vote-by-mail is included. Nothing less than our democracy is at stake:

No one should be forced to choose between staying safe and having a say in who controls their government. We don't know how long this pandemic will last or the exact impact it will have on the 2020 election. But we do know that those we elected to represent us have a duty to provide funding for alternative methods of casting a ballot.

And make no mistake: Vote-by-mail is not the only voting rights reform that our community will be fighting for. We have our sights set on a whole host of reforms -- including extended early voting, expanded online voter registration, same-day registration, and no-excuse absentee voting for all. All together, these reforms will modernize and streamline our voting process.
