It’s time to take deadly seriously the threats of violence, domestic insurrection, and civil war that Republicans have made at the southern border.

Jim Jordan and Republican Gov. Greg Abbott are making the UNCONSTITUTIONAL argument that Texas has a right to control the border, and the federal government doesn’t. These two extremists claim that the “compact between the United States and the States” is broken—almost exactly what South Carolina said in its 1860 declaration of secession.

The madness has got to stop before more people get hurt.

Jordan, Greg Abbott, and Donald Trump are DELIBERATELY sabotaging national security at the border to try and gain points politically—meanwhile, promising bipartisan negotiations in the Senate have produced a draft agreement on landmark compromise immigration legislation, the first since the 1990s.

Coming from an agricultural district I know how critical immigrant labor is for the success of our harvests. I am constantly talking to farmers who tell me that if immigrant labor dried up their farms would go under. It wasn't too long ago when moderate Republicans like George Bush duked it out with other Republicans in the 2000 GOP Presidential Primary to see who could bethe most compassionate towards immigrants in hopes of wooing latinos to their side - now the discourse has flipped in the GOP to who can be the most cruel towards immigrants. Working Ohioans are fed up with chaos at the border caused by career politicians like Jordan.

This is craziness, but Jordan won’t ever voluntarily stop harming our country to benefit himself—it’s just who he is. We need to MAKE him stop by beating him this year.
