Hi John,
UE is the Union for Everyone. That’s more important than ever in our current moment of union busting and rising xenophobia. Employers try to tell us that economics is a zero-sum game and that workers in other countries are the enemy. At UE, we know that’s a lie. That’s why we ‘re committed to building international solidarity with our fellow workers across borders.
One of the most important ways we’ve built that solidarity over the past 30 years is our Worker-to-Worker Exchange Program. Unfortunately, we had to put the program on hold during the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2024, Worker-to-Worker Exchange is back — and we need your help to meet a $5,000 fundraising match and make it better than ever.
Our worker-to-worker exchanges help workers in all countries understand that their fight is one and the same, and that the only way to ensure good jobs in one country is to demand good jobs in all countries. We believe that the fight for workers’ rights is international and intersectional. By standing together in solidarity across borders, we’re fighting racism, xenophobia, and dehumanization wherever they arise.
This program was developed by Robin Alexander, our retired Director of International Affairs. Last year, Robin made a splash with her inspiring ebook, International Solidarity in Action, about our exchanges with the Frente Auténtico del Trabajo (Authentic Workers’ Front), an independent federation of labor unions, worker-owned cooperatives, and farmworker and community organizations across Mexico. Robin’s book is now available for free download in English and Spanish!
UEREF’s Worker-to-Worker Exchange Program is a life-changing program, but it doesn’t come cheap. This May, we’re sending rank-and-file members from the United States to Mexico to exchange their knowledge and personal stories with our allies at the FAT. An anonymous donor has pledged $5,000 in matching funds to help ensure our worker-leaders can access this transformative experience. Can we count on you to help us reach our goal of raising $5,000?
Double your investment in International worker solidarity:
In solidarity,
Kari Thompson
