Dear Friend, We at Green America want to let you know that we are thinking of you in this time of COVID-19. Please tell us how you are doing, what is most on your heart and mind, and what you are inventing to take care of yourself and your family. Leave a comment on our posts on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram or reply to this email. It will make our day to hear from you. Also, we want to let you know that we are continuing to move our work forward—to tackle the climate crisis, grow the green economy, assist green businesses, protect people and our planet from toxic chemicals, and support front-line workers. As we all see every day, this pandemic further exposes the gaps and injustices in our economy and weaknesses in our systems. We are so glad you are by our side as, together, we work to protect vulnerable people and our precious planet. So stay tuned. We'll be sending out more information and opportunities for action we can all take in this time of the coronavirus including the best ways to press forward on climate action, hold corporations accountable, and protect workers and small, green businesses. And we'll send you good news of great progress on the issues we care about. For example, last week: - We had the largest number of members ever joining us for our Climate Victory Garden webinar -- growing food for their friends and family, reversing the climate crisis, and enjoying the peace and joy that so many find in gardening. (More Climate Victory Garden webinars and information to come as spring blossoms around us.)
- We organized a call (moved from in person to virtual) for over 119 shareholder activists to coordinate putting pressure on the Wall Street Banks to stop lending to fossil fuel companies. We can't allow these banks to expand their support of fossil fuel companies as the world focuses on COVID—so we're on the case!
In the immediate now, please join us in reframing "social distancing" to "physical distancing and radical social connecting" through technology and traditions old and new. And please do send us a note about how you are doing, what innovative ways you are finding to care for yourself and others, and your thoughts on our work together on the climate crisis, fair labor, corporate accountability, green business, and community resiliency. Comment on our posts on social media or hit reply to this email. Here's to your health and the health of your family, friends, community and the world we share. For the future, |
