Dear Fellow Pilgrim,
The spiritual journey is deeply challenging, as Jesus affirms in one of his most famous teachings: “The gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it” (Matthew 7:14, NLT).
If this is true, and our experience certainly seems to indicate that it is, then how does spiritual transformation actually happen? Through what framework is a contemplative practitioner formed? How does this Lenten learning community offer a unique formational invitation for you to open deeply to the Spirit’s work in your soul during the six weeks leading up to Easter?
Lent can be different for you this year. Here’s how this learning community is framed and can help with your journey:
1. We learn most sustainably within the context of an intentionally small community. There are a myriad of reasons for why this is true, but here is one of the most crucial: You are not alone in your formational journey when you struggle towards transformation alongside others who are wrestling with their spiritual journeys as well. Encouraging others in their change process catalyzes transformation in our own lives.
This learning community is framed through the reality that you are not alone.
2. We learn most significantly when our voice is a part of the learning process from the beginning. When a learning cohort emphasizes active dialogue and reflective listening, the temptation to remain an anonymous wallflower or passive recipient quickly diminishes. Learning is most transformational when it engages participation, a give-and-take approach to the outcome of the group itself.
This learning community uniquely values a communal approach where your voice deeply matters.
3. We learn by doing within our actual context, not through blind adoption of the newest fad to hit the market. Although theory is critical, effective rhythms and consistent practice are what engage transformation on a sustainable level.
This learning community’s entire framework is based on developing a rhythm of integrated praxis – of formation, mission, and justice, within your actual world.
For these reasons and a myriad more, we are quietly confident that “The Contemplative Practitioner ([link removed]) ” will be unlike any learning community you have ever encountered in your spiritual journey.
Join us beginning on Tuesday, February 13th (2 pm EST) ([link removed]) for this six-week Lenten learning community that guides us through examination of our internal and external practices around formation, justice, and mission.
Your voice is needed.
