Hey,

As things change rapidly here in Iowa due to the spread of coronavirus, I wanted to take a step back to share some important updates with you from our team and how we're responding.

1. Moving all of our campaign efforts to phones and the internet

To protect the health and safety of our team members, volunteers, and voters, we have closed down our office and moved all of our efforts to the phones or to digital tools.

That means:
- Texting and calling voters instead of knocking on their doors
- Holding online, live-streamed town halls instead of meet-and-greets at local hangouts
- Fundraising online instead of holding parties in people's homes

You can find a full list of online events here -- I hope we see you during one of Eddie's online town halls: [link removed]

2. Repurposing the Big Blue Bus

We were right in the middle of our Mauro for Tomorrow bus tour down the east side of Iowa when we made the call to cancel and move to a virtual operation in order to protect our team.

But that doesn't mean we aren't still going to get use out of our bus, Big Blue. One of the most urgent issues facing folks in our communities is that food banks and pantries are quickly running out of supplies and are struggling to serve everyone. Additionally, grocery stores are overwhelmed and volunteers cancel their shifts to stay home.

We'll be using Big Blue to collect food donations and deliver them to several Iowa food pantries to help make sure no one goes hungry during this epidemic.

I know times are tough for so many of us. But if you can, a donation to Feeding America -- which supports hundreds of food banks across the country -- can help prevent a hunger crisis.

3. Lobbying our leaders to do the right thing
There's no question that Donald Trump and too many Republicans in Congress didn't take this crisis seriously at the start, putting millions of lives at risk. We've seen our leaders act too slowly in taking the necessary steps to protect all of us and save lives.

That's why we won't stop pushing for critical legislation like the Families First Coronavirus Response Act -- which the Senate finally passed and the president signed into law.

Eddie and Team Mauro will be fighting to make sure any coronavirus legislation is focused on supporting workers and families, not corporations and billionaires. That means continuing to push for expanding paid sick leave, making sure families aren't thrown out of their homes, and making sure no one ends up with medical debt for getting treatment for coronavirus.

Expect more updates from me, Eddie, and the team in the days to come. For now, stay safe, stay healthy, and take care of each other.

Mark Langgin
Campaign Manager
