From continually attempting to undermine and undo the Affordable Care Act and stuffing the federal court with Trump’s unqualified, anti-choice conservatives to refusing to remove the president from office for clear abuses of power, Senate Republicans have given us a litany of reasons to vote them all out.
Now, we can add profiting off of a public health crisis to that list.
Senators Richard Burr (R-NC) and Kelly Loeffler (R-GA) both divested large amounts of shares in February after receiving private briefings on the virus and its potential impacts on the economy -- weeks before the public was warned.
These senators clearly abused their privileged information for personal gain when they could have warned the American public. We MUST retake the Senate to stop the GOP from causing any more damage. Even if we retake the White House in the fall, we won’t be able to pass progressive legislation if Mitch McConnell controls the Senate and can prevent any bill from reaching the Senate floor.
We need a Democratic Senate that won’t acquit Trump of every crime, won’t confirm every anti-choice judge he nominates, and will actually act on progressive legislation.
Democrats need 4 seats to flip the Senate in 2020, and right now, we have our eyes on flipping as many as 8, but we have to turn out the vote to make sure that happens.
