John,
The situation on the ground is changing rapidly, so I wanted to be sure you had the most up-to-date information.
State and local governments across the nation are taking difficult, but necessary action to flatten the curve and reduce the burden coronavirus will have on our healthcare system. That includes shelter-in-place orders, restrictions on public gatherings, and suspension of non-essential business practices.
It’s important that we listen to the scientists and healthcare experts as we navigate this crisis, but we also need to take immediate action to help families, small businesses, and local governments being pushed to the brink by this pandemic.
I’ve called on Washington to pass stimulus legislation that targets aid to those who need it. In my district, the casino industry has overwhelmingly taken the responsible step of closing down. Thousands of workers are out of work with almost no time to prepare. That’s why we need to make sure that any stimulus package helps support the workers and businesses of the casino, hotel, travel and tourism-related industries.
We need Washington to step up and do it’s part. We’re going to keep up the pressure now and in the weeks and months to come. Our neighbors deserve nothing less.
